Fellow Europaphiles,
Another Mod 72 completed.  Preparing for the Mod took much longer than performing it.  Pics have been posted on my build web pages (URL in signature block).  The reamer will go off to Ron P. first.  Upon return of the reamer, I will let folks know.  I'll have a little kit consisting of reamer and a can of self-etching primer ready to ship to the next person ready to perform the mod.  I am not including the ACF-50 as I think that everyone should have a can of their own as it needs to be re-applied with each annual inspection  The kit will go to the first person to contact me with a shipping address.  I expect that they will let the Forum know when they have completed Mod 72 and will pass it on.

Good building and great flying,
Bob Borger

Hi Bob and everyone
Is there room to do Mod 72 with the engine on a sling but still attached to its oil/coolant lines?

Cheers

No problem for me. I did mine on my Tri on Sunday and took about 4 hours including cleaning up around the bulkhead whilst the engine was forward and the exhaust off.

So concentrating about the mod (and Spurs playing Chelsea) that I forgot to check my E Mails for Paddy's DOTH at Panshanger - drat. I hope you guys enjoyed it.

Willie,

I can't say if the engine can be moved forward sufficiently to perform Mod 72 while still attached to the coolant and oil plumbing. My engine was only about 1/2 installed when the Mod was announced and I elected to discontinue any further installation work until the Mod was complete. I completely removed the engine to do my work.

You will need a minimum of 20 cm, perhaps as much as 25 cm (10 inches or so) to gain sufficient access to the frame to get the reamer and a wrench in there to work.

Good building and great flying,
Bob Borger
