Personally, I have always loved this paint scheme:

I know the person that came up with the scheme, but don't know how to get in
touch. I do know that Kevin can get in touch with him though. You can
email Kevin at kevin(at)sloair.com Also check out his site:
http://www.sloair.com/index.php Check out the gallery. His interior is
something that could be very similar to what you could put in a Lightning.
Also, just for the heck of it, check out the 12-cylinder diesel powered
radically modified NXT. It was built for racing, rumored to be strung out
to 1000hp, basically they cut out the center of an NXT and made it a single
seater. It wouldn't be good for anything but racing, but the engine is very
impressive and can run on bio diesel or Jet A!

Awesome paint scheme! You know, I wanted to do something with more dark on
the top, but have heard from a few people that the best color for a
composite in the sun is light because the darker colors draw more heat which
promotes softening of the glass?
Is this true?

I'm sure others will take a better stab at this than me, but it has to do with the heat memory of the resins used. Resin softens with heat but at a higher temperature each time. Layups that were cured at "high" temperatures resist deforming and softening, but they also have some absolute limits. A dark color parked in the sun in the southern USA can achieve surface temps that approach the softening threashold even if fully cured.
It is a little problematic to be flying along in the bright sun wondering if your airframe has softened! It can add to the pucker factor when departing Arizona at noon in July. That's why you will see dark colors only on the wheel pants, wing tips, stab tips, ect. Obviously a dark stripe or even the checkers like Buz has are not a problem.
Either Lancair or Cirrus has recently formulated a silver paint that is acceptable for wings and structure. Yes, silver paint is dark. But they and a paint manufacturer have a formula that will work.
One of the challenges of fast glass is to have a paint scheme that keeps the structure from heat softening.
