Thanks, Dan. Two of the guys here at Alpine Airport (Wyoming) are
personal friends with the Beck Family Gerry Beck was the pilot in #2.
It has put a damper on things here and may affect our air show scheduled
for Aug 25,26 - the fellow that walked away is supposed to bring his
Corsair - we'll see.

Gerry Beck from Whapeton, ND? Damn. He was a friend. He flew 16 hours
one day in the back seat of my CJ6A to pick up my RV-4 which I had
sold him. We were flying back to Sacramento from Whapeton and didn't
beat the weather coming over the Sierras and had to fly down through
Vegas and into the south end of the Central Valley to get home that
day. The next year I blew my trim cable putting the battery back in
(that is when Sly gave me the callsign "sparky"). My field repair on
the trim system wasn't good enough so I again stopped in Whapeton
where Gerry helped me rebuild it properly.
He and I talked about his P51A kit project. He was going to offer a
full-scale P51A kit powered by a new old-stock Allison. I guess that
was his prototype he was flying. He had all the tooling. I was going
to build one.
Aw shit. Damn. I can't read the screen anymore.
