Hey there Fellow Foxers,
I think Kent's right. It's all how you look at it. I always enjoyed the visits by curious neighbors and their friends. My UPS driver stopped one day and asked what all these deliveries were for. When I told him I was building an airplane, he asked to come see it. From then on, he would ask about it with each stop and often take a new look. Eventually, he started stopping even without parts to deliver! One day, I rented a Cherokee and took him, his wife and son for a ride. He was hooked. Lessons started within a couple weeks and he's now a pilot! After awhile, he left his job at UPS to start his own very successful landscaping business. Unfortunately, he very seldom has time to fly. He's built a house an hour north of here and never ended up flying in the Kitfox, yet!
I got off the subject there, but my message is that you can either look at visitors as a distraction, or as an opportunity for sharing the love of aviation. Like most things in life, it's not the things that happen in your life that determine your happiness, but rather your outlook and attitude toward those happenings.

I have the same arrangement and cope just fine (although I must admit that my plane doesn't draw that much attention). My neighbors (and their kids) all know what I am building and they pretty much take it in stride. One neighbor thought I was building a helicopter (only saw the fuelage).

I enjoy the opportunity to show them that there are still people out there that dream about flying and are actually doing something about it (not just dreaming about it). I have only had one stranger stop and ask questions, and once I let a neighbor kid sit in the seat and play with the controls (stress testing, hehe).

I guess it all depends on your personality, temperment and outlook on the building process. Maybe you could throw a tarp over it when you have to roll it out of the garage???
