The same abrasive disc you use for cutting the plex can be used to modify standard drill bits for safe drilling of the holes.  Spin the disc full speed with it's axis perpendicular to the drill axis (SIDE OF DISC PARALLEL TO DRILL AXIS).  Use the side of the abrasive disc to reduce the rake angle of the drill bit to zero for about 1/16 back of the cutting edge.  this you can do in less than a minute.  This will give a rake angle of approx. zero and will cut plex with no breakouts.  You will find this to be much easier to do than reading this!
