The conversion for my 500S from the janitrol to the CD unit including the solid state controller (an option) was in the neighborhood of $3500.00.

Thanks Moe, the images turned out great,
If you also have any showing the routing of all the air ducts then we can
figure out what we can pull out in the way of old plumbing and components
related to the pressurization and air conditioning both of which I no longer
have.

Hi Tom,

Please excuse me for being so slow to reply, however, I retired at the end
of the year and have experienced a few email problems while moving from the
Ross office to my new private hobby shop office.

If it will help you, I can scan the pages from the
Commander book which show a pretty good diagram of how the system works.
Please advise if you need them.

A little over $ 3,000.00 as I recall, which is less than the fuel bill to Micxhigan from Hawthorne, CA.

Moe, congrats on your retirement! Will you have a phone, or will we
still have to tell the sentry that we're "from the airport" if we want
to talk to you?

Thanks for the offer, I have the commander books but they don't show me what
a modified system might be set up like as I have the Mr. RPM conversion
without the air conditioning or pressurization. So if someone with that
configuration could take images. I do not have the scoop on top of the
aircraft, should I? I have no idea.
Tom.

Hi Moe,
As you may know, I am currently having re-built engines installed on my 680F. I am concerned that the props may have metal in them from the engine failures, and may need to be overhauled. Do you know what the TBO is on those props..?? They were overhauled about 700 hours ago. Thanks.

There is no "official" TBO on Hartzell propellers. They like them to be O/H every 60 calendar months, with no regard to time in service. The metal from the engines should have caused no trouble in the props. There is only one "O" ring that would have been affected. It is the large ring on the prop dome. You mechanic should have flushed the propellers and replaced that "O" ring, and the other two, when they installed the propellers on the new engiens. jb

Not Moe here, but would you consider having them inspected and relubed rather than overhauled?

If an approved shop does an "Overhaul", they are required to grind the blades for stress relief. The IRAN is generally a better idea for a prop that has a potential of metal contamination.

I will through my two cents in. You don't have to worry about an official TBO, Hartzell will come out with an AD every very few years that will end up in an over haul or parts replacement.

No need to overhaul the props. Just ave them cleaned out, or have them dissassembled inspected, reassembled and returned to service. Overhaul is 2500 hrs or 12 years.
