Jean, welcome to the Kolb club. Very good photos.
The terrain is nice and level in your airport vicinity and trees are
 scarce.

				Hi Jack,

I am from France, it is a Ultralight special base.

It is 70Km far from Paris in the Vexin.

Here is the google maps links:
 http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=49.257274,1.659923&spn=0.010041,0.019312&t=k&z=16

Your Web site is awesome, lot of very interesting things and subject.

About Simonini Engines: I think the Simonini Mini 3 will do the job for an Ultrastar (33Hp only 20Kg)
 http://www.simonini-flying.com/mini3_eng.htm

 What is your opinion?

				Hi BB,

No trees at all, very easy airport, see the google maps satellite view. It is all flat. But very near you have a lot of beautiful land to fly on.

If it were me I think I'd choose the Simonini Victor 1 (more hp and dual ignition) over the Mini 3.

I heard of a guy who stuffed his tee shirt inside the tire to get back home after a flat, I guess he should have tied it to the outside, a lot less work for sure.
  Thanks for enlightenment.

				Hi Larry,

During 1.30 hour in the morning i run on the runway to learn my feet with the plane, and y see a hole in the tire begining to grow. ( I think the tires are 20 years old )
It was before my first fly; I take some strong repair scotch and made this bandage, it work quite well!!

Sure I wanted to fly. I am on the process to receive two new tire

Allo mon cher -- (mon vieux??)
Glad to see you're enjoying  your Ultrastar; Kolbs are great planes.
But be most careful flying with a  'weak'  tire. (Ooops, Pat, sorry, tyre). If it should blow on touchdown you could easily lose your aircraft.
I once had to fill the tailwheel tire/tyre with sand -- it worked but was heavy.
 In  any  case, bonne chance!

				Hi Russ,

The ground was full of water, it was very slippery, so even if I went flat the wheel rim will not block the plane. It is what I think! But you 'r right, and I don't want to try it

Sometime you have to made choices, I was waiting to fly with it for months and with the scotch bandage it work's.

Bad things could come if I don't see it and fly. But you can trust me just before the first flight I made pre-flight check and I see it.

The lesson is: on a good old airplane keep the eyes open everywhere and every time.

 Have fun flight.

 Jean

Glad to see you're enjoying your Ultrastar; Kolbs are great planes.
But be most careful flying with a 'weak' tire. (Ooops, Pat, sorry, tyre). If it should blow on touchdown you could easily lose your aircraft.
I once had to fill the tailwheel tire/tyre with sand -- it worked but was heavy.
 In any case, bonne chance!

   Thanks for enlightenment.

I looks like you have a Rotax 377 or 447 on your UltraStar?

I have just finished putting a Rotax 377 on my UltraStar and need to tune the engine somewhat to get ready for my first flight in it.

Good to hear your first flights were pleasurable.

 Congratulations,

				Hi Ray,

It's a 447 Rotax. I think you can find on the list some people who could help you. I know some of 2 strokes engines like Solo but not a lot about the Rotax 447 and the 377.

I suspect it's an owner installed modification, by a previous owner.

				Hi Chris,

Yes, it is Micro-Aviation (old French company) Version, it has the serial number n° 192.

Dana is probably right, the second owner who was a German guy living in France has spent a lot of money on the landing gear, I have a lot of German invoice; I cannot read it.
