If there's a Harley store nearby they have a variety of clamp on exhaust shields that would probably do the job. Any shop for road going bikes should have them I just know Harley here in the States has them for sure. You could easily fab something, too.

the sender works by resistance and intense heat could make the difference. Perhaps some insulating header wrap or sleeving could ensure reliability, if there is room that is !!>>
Hi Don
The removal of the actual contact between the VDO and the exhast has obviously worked but there must still be a fair amount of heat radiated through the air and this probably affects the temp. sensor also.
Anyone have any suggestions for a meterial which
a) will not pass or will totally reflect heat
b) a thin material, not more than an 1/8th inch. Thinner is better.
c)something easily worked and fixed by a mechanic with five thumbs and no training.
Cheers
Pat

Good thought Richard. thanks. Haven`t ridden a bike for 60 years so that didn`t occur to me. I thought shields were to keep your legs far enough from the exhaust that you wouldn`t get burned, not to stop the transmission of heat. I must investigate
Cheers

G.Aman MK-3C Jabiru 2200A 475hrs.>>
Hi,
just done the conversion kph to psi. Aint Google wonderful.
Pressure goes to 50 psi on start up and slowly drops to about 29 to 33psi at 2800 cruise which gives around 70 mph..
How does that compare with anyone else?

At my normal cruise speed of about 2640 rpm, my 2200A shows 40 psi on the EIS and about 45 on the mechanical gauge.
