HOBBS Meter: 2452 Construction Hours
Its official! RV-8 N998RV was officially signed off by the FAA this afternoon, April 22 2010 at 1:15 PM PDT! Yahoo! I was issued my Special Airworthiness Certificate and Repairman Certificate and the obligatory entry was made in the aircraft's logbook. A special Phase 1 test-flight area was agreed upon and extends from Livermore to Stockton to Merced to Lost Banos and back to Livermore.
Next week I go up to Oregon to get my Transition Training from Mike Seager ( http://www.vansaircraft.com/public/trainfly.htm ) and after that, its time to test fly!
YAHOO!!! I can't believe its signed off and the test flight is this close! How exciting!

Outstanding! If it flies as well as it was constructed then you'll have
one hell of a plane. Congrats!

Congratulations Matt!!!
That 390 RV could probably fly the entire perimeter of your test area in
less than 30 minutes...why so small for such a fast airplane?? Just
curious...

Well, technically its suppose to be something like a 25-50nm radius from the home airport. Since West of LVK is densely populated (Oakland, Hayward, etc), around here the draw a box going South East of LVK. Not sure why its so small, but it is Phase 1 testing so I wouldn't want to venture too far from home anyway.
