Friends.

I have finally made the painful decision to sell Lil Bruiser, my Zodiac 601XL, as is, where is. It was damaged in a pasture landing accident.  Since I know I will never fly it, I just can't get up whatever it takes to repair it myself. The nose gear hit a berm, bent the nose gear strut, bent the firewall, cabin floor and cowling sheet metal. The prop was stopped horizontally, so the wonderful William Wynne built Corvair engine and Warp Drive prop were not damaged. It was a fully functional airplane, registered as Experimental - Amateur Built, and flown only about three hours. It has a TruTrack single-axis autopilot, Dynon engine monitor, ICOM radio, Narco transponder, Softcomm intercom and steam gauge flight instruments. It is for sale for $25,000. Adding $5,000 in parts and about 500 hours labor will result in a $50,000 or $60,000 airplane for $30,000. I will throw in the upgrade kit, still in the original packaging. Anyone interested can contact me off line for a complete list of installed equipment, photos or whatever you might need.  You can also contact me by phone at 214-351-4757.

Thanks, Jay Bannister, Dallas, TX

Jay,
Too bad you won't be able to get it back in the air. I also broke
the nose wheel early in flight but I did fix it, Also no damage to the
engine. I can understand your position. I did come close to deciding not
to continue on.

Should anyone want it, I do have the complete floor pan from that
repair that I never used, It seems the damage was not as bad as I
thought and I didn't need the part. It is 6B10-1 on the drawings. I
would be happy to sell it more just a bit more than the shipping cost.

Jay. Please reconsider. I don’t know you and we've never swapped emails but I've seen your name on here plenty over the years. I consider all who post here to be friends, yourself too. You have put too much into your plane to give up on it now. Think back on your building process. You know every rivet in that plane. You think you feel bad now. Imagine how you’ll feel after your plane is gone, that’s a lot of emptiness. You have made the wrong decision. I've nearly finished my 701. I bought the plans in 1991. I'm hoping it will be ready for FAA inspection in late summer. Last year around this time (April 1st) I was diagnosed with Small cell lung cancer. Cut a long story short, I went through the Chemo and the Radiation and now I'm 10 months clean and I'm pedaling as fast as I can. I hate the thought of somebody else finishing and flying my plane. Ok you finished and flew yours but Jay, surely you meant to get more than three hours out of it. Come on Jay, The damage is not as bad as you think. Life is good. Rebuild your airplane and fly it ...... Geoff
