				Hello,
I am new to this list. I am considering building a Series-7 SS. I have been studying the aircraft, and the kit options, determining what I would order in a kit.

I visited with another builder and looked at the streamlined strut fairings available as a kit option. They seemed rather heavy to me. I'm curious - has anyone found a good way to install lighter-weight streamlined strut fairings? I know that there are aluminum strut fairings available for ultralights, but I don't see how you could install them over the jury strut brackets, or how you would secure them in place. Just curious.
 Thanks,
 Dave Van Lanen

A friend of mine used the solid wood farings supplied in the kit, but he drilled 2" lightening holes through their length.

He collected over 5# of wood chips...

You cover the farings with fabric anyway, why not give them the swiss cheese look?

Go to Lowes get you some stryfoam molding that goes around windows and
 doors. Glue two pieces together
and router out the large end to match the tubing, glue it on and cover with
fabric. Light and looks good. Did
my Model; II like that. Very strong also.

I put the Strut Fairings from Kitfox on 100 hours ago after flying my SS-7 for 500 hours. I gained a little over 10 mph and it looks much better. I for one, am very happy with em.

I did the same. Worked great on my S5 since 2000.
