Long time! Happy new year! The way it's written now is a yearly check by an examiner. It doesn't have to be in type. You can take it in another jet, say a L-39. It just has to be same cat of aircraft....i.e. turbine.
Hope this helps. It might change again by October. Maybe with just an instructor or experimental warbirds hopefully will be exempt
