Now that you mentioned the stock Van’s ventilation, I was trying to understand it in the manual, but I can only find (in page 50-3), the installation instruction to mount the NACA scoop on the inside of the fuselage hole, and nothing else.
Page 4 of section 50 is “intentionally left blank” and there is no page 5.
Are the vents directly mounted to the downwind end of the scoops?
And by the way, did everybody use the plastic vents or did you exchange those by the high dollar aluminium vents?

No one asked, but…
I started to fit up an overhead console in my plane but then decided against it. My concern was head clearance. With 47 hours now on the plane (most on 90+ degree days), I find the ventilation provided by the stock Van’s vents works well.
I did make two homebrew LED flexible lights, using the brace top bracket screws to mount. Total cost was less than $10.

Yes, the vents mount directly on the NACA scoops. Four #8 screws with a washer under the head and nut work well.
I just used the plastic vents, thinking that if I have spare cash in the future I could always buy the nice (but overpriced) aluminum ones from Van’s. I have the same plastic vents in my 8A for 10 years and never found reason to change them.

I chose not to put in an overhead console but have to admit it was just plain laziness. That top got as much of me as I was willing to give. And Geoff's cool stuff wasn't out there yet.
The Van's vents work fine, though on a hot day in NC, more air is more better. I put an additional obstacle in place that makes the air work harder but it still works fine.

If you look at the second picture, you can see the 2 NACA vents peeking out below the panel. On the panel you can see 2 of Stein's eyeball vents (very nice). If you notice, they don't even come close to lining up. Generally speaking the Vans design seems to just have the vents jutting out underneath the panel though YMMV depending on the specific panel you are putting in.
What I did to connect the 2 things was to use a piece of SCAT (actually CEET) rolled up to do a 360deg. About 1 foot curled up on itself works quite nicely. Unfortunately, the tubing isn't in place in these photos. This may be useful for any of you going with the Van's vents but wanting to relocate it on the panel.

I have the overhead console that came with the Flightline AC air conditioning system. I also installed the upgraded Van's aluminum eyeball vents on the NACA vents in the cockpit. Those vents are really nice and you get a huge amount of air in the cabin with those vents. They are even pretty good on the ground with the engine running.
