I live here in Houston and gave Chevron corporate a
call last week to see if there was still (or going to
be) any MTBE based fuel left.
Cheveron corporate public affairs as well as the
consumer affairs groups confirmed that all Chevron is
going ethanol based per the law. No exceptions for
auto fuel. Only current inventory stocks of MTBE
could possibly still be available but there's no way
to locate the stations. Basically, if you live in a
sparsely populated area you might be able to still
find some MTBE based...but not for long.
I've also been testing the general statement that all
pumps with ethanol fuel are labeled as such. Nope,
they're not. You can't trust the labeling. I've
found ethanol at several Chevron & Shell stations
that didn't have pumps marked.
Regards,
Ted

You live next door to the refinery and you mean to
tell me you don't have 10% ethanol in all gas over
in gennie.
