Have you tried a Honda dealer in the UK? Many times cars and engines are exported only to specific countries.

Hi Galin, thanks for your reply, the valve springs are no longer available from Honda U.K. I was hoping there was a U. S. company specialising in valve spring! Malcolm.

Hello Malcolm,

Welcome to the forum. It is always great to hear from KIS people around the world. The only Cam 100 powered KIS TR-1 I know of was the build by UK dealer Brian Davies (Ray Clegg upgrade his Cam 100 to a Continental IO-240). Brian had a different name for the airplane he called KID for Keep It Difficult. He also applied the fast building options on kits he sold to some buyers.

While I am no expert on Honda creations, here in the USA there are at least two aftermarket manufacturers of valve train components for these engines - BWR, and Brian Crower. Some of the springs offered are for high performance race engine applications, you will have to sort out what you need. Here are a couple of websites from here in the USA that sell these products (I do not believe the free shipping offered will cover shipping to the UK):

http://www.tunersports.com/products.php?make=1&model=8&year=1986&category=78&page=1

http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/partdetails/Brian_Crower/engine/Valve_Springs_and_Retainers/-/10355

I believe Brian imported about 13 KIS TR-1s into the UK (that is 10% of the total number of TR-1 kits my brother sold). The completion rate was much better than here in the USA with 10 of the birds finished to flying status at one time or another. I am still on the lookout for 2 missing kits somewhere in the UK or possibly exported to parts unknown.

If you could provide any other details about your KIS we all would enjoy hearing about it.

Regards,
Mark Trickel

Have you tried an on-line car parts company like Ferrea or maybe even E-bay? I did a quick search and it looks like this car/engine combination was not available in the US.

Try contacting:

It looks like the D15A1 came in the 1984-87 Honda CRX. The integra used the D16 engine. Here is one company to try....
