I checked at the weekend my bushings on the Io240B engine mounts. see the
picture attached .
(See attached file: IMG_4203.jpg)
this was the worst one ( lower port side) it does look like they are
starting to break up and need to be replaced , ( new in 1996, first ran in
2001, just over 500 hours )

For those who have a Cont. IO-240 B1B in there TR-1 and haven't changed there
rubber mount bushings recently, here are the part numbers and what they cost
me from my source. Note that the four center bushings #638255 are not the
same as used in the O-200. I had to remove my oil filter and adaptor in order
the remove the bottom right mount bolt. The gasket was the replacement for
the oil filter adaptor. If you have a different model IO-240 you may not need
the gasket.
It is a bit of a chore but well worth the effort.
Thanks to OC Baker for his help no getting me the information I needed to
complete this job.

Keith,
My engine age and hours are very similar. I had to dig out three of my
bushings as they had bonded to the engine casting. On my plane the spinner
had dropped a good 1/4" over the years, Grasping the prop I could lift the
engine up to its proper location. The new bushings put the engine back up. I
couldn't tell any difference in flight, vibration seemed the same. It looks
much better on the ramp though.

I think it is pretty normal for the engine to settle in the mounts some. I set my cowl up so the spinner was about 1/8" high and it settled to about 1/8" below in the first few hours of flight. I ended up putting a large area washing under the lower engine mount bolts to even it out. It has not moved for 220 hours now.
