Charlotte, NC's EAA Chapter 309 is0 Conducting a Poker Run
Flying: Airports are Statesville (SVH-123.075), Rowan County0 (RUQ-122. , Monroe (EQY-122.7), Gastonia (AKH-123.0), with the final being0 Lincoln County (IPJ-123.05). All open at0 8:00 A.M. The absolute deadline at Lincoln County is 12:00 noon when the winners0 will be determined. Lunch will be hot dogs and hamburgers served by the 309's0 superior BBQ grilling staff!
Each hand costs $10.00 or three for0 $25.00 (such a deal!). Participants may purchase and play as many hands as they0 wish. Winners will share one half of the proceeds - other half of pot goes to0 Chapter 309's Hangar Fund.
If starting at IPJ and route is flown as0 listed, trip is approximately 121 NM. Pilots may begin their quest at any0 of the five airports. You can fly the airports in any order.
FLYING MUST BE VFR0 ONLY. IF VFR CONDITIONS DO NOT EXIST, THEN DRIVE TO LINCOLN COUNTY AIRPORT!
BE SURE TO0 STAY OUT OF CHARLOTTE'S CLASS B AIRSPACE. STAY UNDER 3600 FEET MSL AND REMAIN AT LEAST 11 MILES FROM THE CLT VOR!!! You do not have to0 talk to Charlotte Approach - but monitoring their frequencies is a good0 idea. 128.32mhz (001-119 degrees); 120.05mhz (120-2450 deg); and 134.75 mhz (246-360 deg). Be sure to use0 Unicom/CTAF within 10 miles of each Airport you are Using.

Pilots, passengers, in-laws, anybody can0 purchase hands and either have someone who is flying (or riding) the Run pick up0 cards for them. Or a non-flying participant can draw all five cards at Lincoln0 County (terminus).
Flying Participants may draw as many as0 two (2) cards PER stop (or 1-5 cards at Lincoln County).
In case0 of a tie - Participants will draw one additional card - HIGH card wins. 0 Decisions of the Judges are final.
Poker0 Hands:
1. A poker hand consists of five0 cards
2. Ace is HIGH, NO Wild Cards, NO0 Jokers
3. Winning combinations (from highest to0 lowest):
FIVE OF A KIND – Not a normal poker hand but0 since we are drawing from several decks at the different airports, this CAN0 happen and would be the winner.

ROYAL FLUSH - A, K, Q, J, 10 in the same0 suit
STRAIGHT FLUSH - Five cards in sequence, same0 suit
FOUR OF A KIND - Four aces down to four0 two's
FULL HOUSE - Three cards of one rank with two0 cards of another
FLUSH - Five cards of the same0 suit
STRAIGHT - five cards in sequence, different0 suits
THREE OF A KIND - Three cards of the same0 rank
TWO PAIR - Two cards of one rank and two cards of0 another
ONE PAIR - Two cards of one rank and three other0 cards
NO PAIR - Rated by the highest cards in the0 hand
NOTE*** - cards MAY NOT be exchanged between hands.

If you are starting from another airport on the list, you may pay0 for your hand at Lincolnton County Airport. Non-flying participants may draw all five cards at Lincoln0 County.
