It isn't FB taking you to court. It's law enforcement, arresting you and filing criminal charges. Google the cases and you'll see that court precedent has been established that fake user IDs are a crime in some states, notably CA and NJ.

Eventually they will ask you to upload an ID, and if you don't they will lock your account. ...(snip)... there is Nothing you can do abut it.

Of course there is, you can stop using Facebook.

Agreed. I am also an IT security specialist, and there is no way that I would ever put anything on Facebook that I cared about, including any real information about my birthday, birth place, etc.

If you truly think that Facebook is going to take you to court for creating an account with false info, then they would have a LOT of court cases to file. Smile It is really not very practical for them to do so, including technical a well as legal concerns. If you are really worried about them tracking you down, use the Tor web browser to help protect your anonymity.

If you are seriously concerned about Big Brother tracking you, then get rid of all of your credit cards and other means of electronic purchases, never use a cell phone, never fly a commercial airline, never file a flight plan (VFR or IFR), etc.

There are more secure alternatives that do respect privacy and permit anonymity.

Been there and tried that - basic issue is that none of my "friends" use them, so there was little point in posting info just for myself to read.

# To create pages on my web site takes hours. To publish on
# Facebook takes minutes.

You might be a candidate for WordPress.

Once it's set up, you could easily blog to, say, http://AuCountry.com/blog

It takes a little time up front. Sort of like building a template for
installing a windscreen or cowling.

# ... if it's some sort of religious issue, I understand.

It's about invasion (surrender, actually) of privacy. Topic's already
been covered here.

# Mark Zuckerberg, the inventor of Facebook, ...

# He's an idiot. A wealthy idiot, to be sure, making a fortune by
# selling your privacy to others.

He also renounced his U.S. citizenship to avoid paying taxes.

Maybe I would, too, if I could afford to commute from Singapore.
