I too am a builder's helper, but on a Lancair IV.  I spend some tine lurking 

on the Lancair list (LML).  It is an interesting place.  As often is the 

case in some lists there are a few "Gurus"  that tend to imtimidate. 

Recently there was a post that suggested that like the Mooney, RV, ETC 

pilots it might be nice to have an annual fly-in to get together and share 

stuff and socialize.



I couldnt believe the responses he got.  "Yes if it is East of a line 

between such and so."   "Yes if it is in the South East."   And the 

clincher, "Yes if it is within 150 nautical miles" of his home base.  This 

from one of the biggest mouths on the list and from a guy who flys an 

airplane capable of speeds  close to 300mph.  I guess more than 30 minutes 

airtime on a cross country is too much.



I love my little airplane.  I've spend nine yours in a day getting where I 

want to go and low enough to see where I went.  I guess I'll never 

understand the pilots that profess a love of flying, but want to spend as 

little time in their airplanes as they can.

One of my favorites... If you LOVE flying then why are you in such a hurry

to get there ?
