My project came with an aileron trim tab already cut by the previous builder on the right wing aileron.
During the balancing process of the aileron I've noticed that this tab is very heavy for its size. Besides that, there is an additional weight of the aileron trim servo, servo cover, electric cable.....
I'm thinking if all that stuff is really necessary. Most of the single engine aircraft that I've flown don't have an aileron trim tab. I think that the fixed aileron trim tab is light, simple, reliable and very efficient for small roll tendency adjustment.
Before I remove my aileron trim tab and all the associated systems, I'd like to listen to what you guys think about it.
Thanks,
Fabricio

Fabricio,
I have a TR-1 with electric aileron trim and use it every flight and am glad
to have it. My fuel system requires requires left or right fuel tank, not
both. Using aileron trim lets me fly longer on one tank and keep her level.
Also I have to retrim if I carry a passenger. A Cruiser, being larger and
heaver, my not be as sensentive to the weight changes.

My fuel tanks go all the way out to the wingtip so even small fuel imbalances require significant aileron trim when the tanks are near full.
If your fuel tanks are only the inner two bays then you probably don't need aileron trim. If you are using the third or fourth bay I would say you will need aileron trim.
My "forward of the spar" full span fuel tanks are 21-22 gallons per side.

FWIW: I use my electric aileron trim in just about every flight on my TR4 and am glad I have it especially on flights longer that 1hr.

I agree, I wish I had one on my KIS TR1.  Fuel usage creates weight imbalance and heavy wings.

Ok guys, I'll keep my aileron trim tab. I'm now building a new and lighter tab.
Thanks,
