Thanks guys

I ran the radio positive and negative leads directly to the battery with a in line fuse
That seems to have solved it Smile

Look at Mouser;

These clamp on suppressors are fairly good but some experimentation may
be required.  You can also buy ferrite cores and route the power leads
through them, which requires a bit more work but has the potential of
being more effective.  I think this is what Bob did.  Make sure you have
a good ground between all of your electronics and the engine case, that
may solve your problem by itself.

Best Regards, Bill

Mark, just test the radio with the battery alone. Trying to find the
source of the noise. If that does not improve it then try to bypass the
intercom if possible by connecting directly to the radio interface
cable.

Loose wires in headset plugs can create havoc. Ferrite beads rarely
provide much help.

Thanks Myron

I do have an intercom and yes I am using aircraft power to power the
handheld radio

Are you saying to use the battery inside the radio or run the power
directly to the aircraft battery ?

If will try both but using the internal radio battery requires charging
it constantly of course which is a pain

I will try your other suggestions....as I figured, it is a trail and
error of chasing like most electrical issues:)

Thanks

I am useing the Ballistic Performance Components model EV02 on my 912S
since 18 month. Charging voltage is determined by the regulator device

13,6V. Very good start characteristic in winter time, once you get
used
to the specifics of a Lithium battery.

I have had my Pulsar for a long time...18 years....always has some
engine
  noise on transmission

But is seems to be much worse on transmission....engine noise

I am using a handheld Icom radios attached to the dash and always had
good
  luck

I think I have an Icon IC-A23 now

Anyone had good luck with noise filters ?

  Thanks

Mark, are you using power from the airplane or the battery on the
radio?
If you are connected to the aircraft power try unplugging it and
running
it straight from the battery. If you have an intercom installed and it
is powered by the aircraft you could have the noise entering there. My
turn and bank indicator was producing a lot of hash until I did some
  filtering inside it.
Your best source for clean power is to run a cable to the battery
where
it can do its job. Yes a filter can help but it can be difficult to
find
just where the noise is being injected into the system. If you have an
intercom and a pigtail on your radio you may be able to bypass the
intercom for a test. Loose screws on the headset plug wires can allow
electrical noise to enter the system too. Clean and tighten all the
  connections.
