I also did a modification of my lower cowl for my 30 blade MT Prop. Hope the picture comes through, if not I am also posting on0 Doug Reeves Web Site under the RV-10 section.

I took a piece of fiberglass I had trimmed off the0 door window and made a replacement piece for the lower cowl cut out. The0 trimmed piece had a slight curve to it so I designed the cover to slide up under0 the front of the cowl. After I installed the piano hinges on both sides I0 then installed fiberglass over the part that slide under the cowl to bring the0 finished piece out level with the front end. I can remove one piano hinge0 safety screw, slide out the piano hinge pin on one side and flip the cover back0 up inside and then remove the lower cowl. Works like a dream and you can0 make the cut out as far forward as you desire. Also no drag created0 because the mod lays flush with the bottom of the cowl.
