Hi all:
Thanks to Larry, I was able to finish my HS on Sunday. Now I'm completing
the VS, and have a question about the rivet call-out on the plans.
The rear spar is blind riveted to the middle rib (VS-707) with 3 LP-4
rivets. Two of these go through rib/spar/spar doubler (thick) and one just
goes through rib/spar (thin).
Is it OK to use the same length pulled rivet for these two different
material thickness?
Thanks, Carter

Carter:
In my experience, yes. They can clinch down really short for work with thin stock. As long as they are long enough for the thickest work you're doing, you're okay.
Keep in touch

Carter,
Van's uses two different length LP-4 rivets.
-3 which has a 3/16" length has a grip of .031 - .062
-4 which has a 1/4" length has grip range of.063-.125.
Grip range being the total thickness of the pieces being riveted togather.
