Has anyone bailed on their reservations yet?



I keep watching this space, waiting for someone to blink first.



Whatever's left of Ernesto by then is still forecast to be sitting

over the Outer Banks Friday morning.  I don't like it.



Ashe Co. may be a better bet; looks like a 4:15 car trip according to

GoogleMaps.  It would be easier if someone else decided for me

Reno and Tad bailed..i think.  we need to commit by

thurs. am to hold bikes and condo at Ashe Co.  you can

drive if wx gets marginal friday for aviating...Reno

Seems everyone is leaning towards cancelling the OBX.  It still looks like

it would be possible on Saturday, if you believe forecasts like this:

I bet if we cancelled out Crew's tonight, we could scoop the entire

Inn back up on Saturday... unlikely that folks (besides us) will make

last-minute plans to move into the path of a storm, but... no

guarantees.

OTOH, there's the Thursday am deadline for Plan B.

One option would be to cancel with the Ocracoke stuff right now, but

reconsider if by tomorrow am things at the beach look better for

Saturday.  Then call Crews on Friday night (so they can't require us

to rent for 3 nights) and sign up for Sat-Mon.

On second thought, if I were the Inn manager and you did that to me,

I wouldn't give us reservations but say "come and take your chances,

I'll beleiiee it when I see you."

I keep getting hit by lightning and the computer shutdown.  Don't know  if my previous got through.  So here it is again.

  

  I agree with Wayne.  Why don't we just make it a Saturday,  Sunday leave Monday affair at Ashe County.

I just talked to the owner of the Island Inn and he said they will have 

Villas available should you want to stay just Sat and Sun. and they would 

not require a 3 nite commitment.   I canceled my reservations last nite  and 

should the weather clear we will launch Saturday am.

Just talked with Reno and he is reserving the big house (5 bedrooms for  Saturday and Sunday).  If someone wants to come on Friday he is sure  accommodations can be had.  Furthermore he wants to let those coming on  Saturday know that they need to be there by 12 noon in order to make the bike  ride.  Also he wants to know if anyone is interested in a canoe trip.   Cappy is in for that as well as the bike trip.

  

 Let me know what everyone's intentions are and I will relay to him via  phone.  He is on his way to the MTN and away from E-Mail.

I just called and left a cancellation message at Crews Inn, as well. Thanks,

Larry for posting the phone number. Things are never simple. They are moving

my son's football game from Friday to Sat 1pm. I'm thinking Cindy and I can

still fly up afterwards and have dinner with everyone and stay the night. No

biking or canoeing, though. At least I'm not at the coast in the storm's

path.

I called the Island Inn as well. Told them we would try to get there on  Friday but if we can't make it we will try for Saturday. We would still like to  stay 3 nights so we would just make it Sat-Sun-Mon. Told them I would keep them  posted. My last look at the NWS prediction showed Ernesto in the middle of  Virginia at 2 PM on Friday. I'm hoping we can sneak in behind it. At any rate,  we have made a decision! (Kathy really wants to go to the beach!)

Latest mtn update. wx. expected to be lo 70s and

partly cldy sat/sun/mon.  Have bikes for 2 pm sat. 

Blues festival sat. nite at Jefferson Ldg.  Canoeing

possible sunday if interested.  Golf (Len) sat. am and

/or sunday. Shatley Spgs dinner fri. nite thru wkend. 

many other good eateries. Check in w/ me re:

anticipated arrival.  We have a van for wkend as well

as 2 cars.  Reno
