|

Having recently done my annual permit servicing I noticed that a clamp had come detached from one of the straps which hold on the heat shield for the silencer. On closer investigation I found that two of the four corners of the heat shield had cracks and one had lost a corner of the shield entirely. This exhaust system had only been fitted for one year and a total of 55 hours running. I replaced the heat shield. Both the old and new shields had sharp corners and sharp edges. I have rounded these to reduce the risk of future cracking. The exhaust manufacturer has been notified suggesting this is done on future exhausts before dispatch. Other XS owners with 912’s may wish to check their heat shields.

Nigel.
I've replaced two shields. The latest I manufactured out of stainless. We'll see if it holds up better...
