I had a ‘small’ problem with the wind on takeoff and now have several parts of a Kolb Firestar II for sale. Please call me at this # if interested. I am located at 3LF which is Litchfield , IL. As soon as I have pics I plan on putting this on barnstormers at a higher $$.

Well, it is kind of a long story and embarrassing. This happened on my
second takeoff and, to make it short the cross wind was prob only 3 to 6
knots but I was brand new with the kolb and for some reason I took off with
only 1/2 throttle or less, sort of gentle it in the air I guess. The 503
has tons of power. (I have only flown 150's, 172's, and my rv 6 (tail
wheel) and never take off with less than full power. Go figure.) in
retrospect I should have learned it in a no wind situation.
I taxied it around, ok there, and when I took off the wind just took me off
runway and picked up the upwind wing. The ailerons had no effect, I guess
that I was too slow and my friend said that the wing was only 2 in off the
ground when this happened.
I cant even say that I hope this helps someone else, no one else would be
that foolish. I will say that on landing when they are done flying- They
Are Done Flying.
Well, now I have parts. The cage is bent and prob cant be straightned, at
least not without a lot of work.
I figure that alum alone ought to be worth 50 to 100 dollars. will
get pics up prob next wk.
