All,
The body part of postings to this list by Jos yesterday and today have come up blank on my screen. All other postings have been Ok. It has happened on both my work and home computers but I note others seem to have replied to his postings so assume they were able to read the contents.
Is anybody else having this problem ? If not, does anybody have any idea what is going on at my end ?

Hi Kingsley and all,
These postings were made on the europaowners forum, and consequently
echoed to the Matronics list.
Checking the posting, it turns out to be in HTML only. If your email
client has HTML disabled (IMHO advisable) wou won't see anything but a
blank.
This has probably been a change since the latest software update on the
forum. Steve, can you change back to text only please? In the meanwhile
folks with blanks, read the messages on the forum (IMHO advisable) or
enable HTML temporarely.
Since this posting is done directly to the list, it won't be blank
Sorry for the trouble caused,
Kind Regards,
Jos Okhuijsen

Ooopps Sorry about that.. and I thought we made the swap with out a hitch.
I was so worried about the Gallery and getting all the photos working with the new software I let this one slip. I saw the html postings and because I forgot to put in the EuropaOwners tag I didn't associate it with the forum.
Should be all fixed now..
Chat later,
Steved

You are so correct Jos ! I CAN indeed read this one.
You also said . . . "If your email client has HTML disabled (IMHO
advisable) you won't see anything but a blank."
I use Outlook at work and Outlook Express at home. To my knowledge, I
have never had any trouble receiving other HTML emails, it only seems to
happen on the ones from the list. I have had several blank ones from
the Aeroelectric list too and until now have always assumed the writers
had accidentally pressed the 'Send' key prematurely or accidentally. To
be honest, I don't know how to disable HTML in either Outlook or OE. On
googling however, I find there is an add-on available expressly for this
purpose.
Please pardon my ignorance but I am also unable to understand the
significance of having a 'forum' as well as the 'list' now. Is there a
major difference that makes one better than the other? If so, what
is/are the difference/s and why do we need both ?
Ok all you blokes/guys that say "don't you even know that ?" well no,
I'm sorry to say I don't !
If you can explain all this in a plain language that even a poor simple
ba$#%^& like me can understand, I would be much obliged thanks Jos.
Regards
Confused Kingsley
Please do not archive lest my ignorance be indelibly recorded in the
bowels of Matts computer !

You asking me to put a stick in a beehive, because this easily leads to a
heated discussion´, and it has nothing to do with Europas and flying. Ok,
i'll take the bait, but please folks, don't follow my mistake, mail me
personally and do not reply on the list.
One reason is that you will have to use your outlook, express or any other
mail program. If you don't carry a laptop around while travelling, you
will not be able to read your mail and see the messages from the list.
The forum however you access with a browser, on any computer anywhere in
the world.
The list carries your email address, and every spammer scans the lists for
new victems. You will get a lot of spam if you ever put a message out on
the list. Since on the forum your email address is hidden, this won't
happen.
The messages on the list remain on your computer or not, depending if you
decide to delete them, or your computer thrashes its harddisk or gets
stolen. The forum on the other hand keeps all messages, will thrash a
harddisk once in a while but has a live copy, could get stolen or bombed,
but has a copy outside town.
The forumis the archive, you don't have to look where to go to find what
you want to know.
But is is a definitely a disandvantage to have to learn new habits, and
again another user interface.
After that Steve and i decided that forum was the better way, Matt
Matronics has now also the lists in forum media, so maybe it was not a bad
idea after all
So please folks, no answers here, email me at josok-e(at)ukolo.fi

Kingsley & everyone with an interest,
To enable or disable HTML in Outlook (depending on your Outlook version) go
to Tools > Options tab > Mail Format > and select 'Plain Text', 'Rich Text'
or 'HTML'.
To enable or block receiving images in Outlook go to Tools > Options >
Security tab > 'Download Pictures' (middle of the page) > click the 'Change
Automatic Download Settings...' button and select or deselect the 'Don't
download images or other content automatically in HTML e-mail' check box
(middle of the 'Automatic Picture Download Settings' page) > click the OK
button.
To enable or disable HTML in Outlook Express (depending on your Outlook
Express version) go to Tools > Options tab > Send > and look at the bottom
of the page for 'Mail Sending Format' where you can choose 'HTML' or 'Plain
Text'.
To enable or block receiving images in Outlook Express go to Tools > Options
Quote: | Security tab > and select or deselect the 'Block images or other external
content in HTML e-mail' check box (middle of the tabbed page).
|
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Jack Hilditch
