Local Firestar II owner Bob Erb passed his SP check ride yesterday.

And a perfect day for it too.  He took all his instruction in a Champ

and enjoyed flying the "big" plane.  I was talking to his instructor at

a clambake yesterday afternoon (not the examiner)  who told me

about their first cross country, with a bit of humor.   Bob was all set

to go, or so he thought until the instructor looked at the GPS and said,

"you're leaving that thing here!"

Now he can navigate AND fly.

Congratulations Bob.
