Hi,
Since it is the weekend and everyone is either out flying or watching football, I will attempt to waste some bandwidth.
This is the weekend that the Top Fun Flyers from Caldwell go to the Alvord Desert. the weather yesterday was a bit drafty, but I flew Dart there xcountry to visit and do some longer range testing. I wanted to see how much fuel I was burning and what the performance of the Warp Drive Prop was going to be. I fought a headwind both directions with a flight time of one hour and 42 minutes. Average speed was about 50 MPH top speed was 77 MPH. I burned 5 gallons of gas during the trip.

Today the wind is much kinder, being about 3 MPH. I took the camera to take some videos, and the shotgun to take some Chuckars. I flew to the Owyhee canyon and started down stream from there. It is High Desert with the ground level being about 4000 ft. We had a lightening fire this summer that burned 69000 acres of the stuff. I turned my camera on and found that the batteries were dead. ( so much for the preflight) I then turned my attention to the canyon to check the water level. Pretty low and bumpy. I got to a spot that I wanted to hunt which was called "Bogus Basin" and turned around the lava bluffs looking for a landing spot. Found it and a line of hunters moving across the botton. Aborted that landing and continued my exploration. In checking my fuel levels I found that I had burned about half of my fuel so I reluctantly turned back towards the house. I remembered that I carry spare batteries in my seat so I found a spot on a " two track" dirt road that didn't look too bad and touched her down. Got out and had a conversation with the "Gov", replaced the batteries and took off again. Fired up the camera and found that these were even deader than the other ones. Sorry, no pictures today. The flight was very comfortable, covering 74 miles and burning 6 gallons of gas.

Conclusion about the Warp Drive. It is a very good prop, no doubt. I am sure it is as tough as advertised. It may well add a bit to my speed, However my cruise is going to be in the 60 MPH range. Factors that affect that are the 800x6 tires, VG's. The prop is much noisier than the IVO, probably because it is much closer to the aileron rods. I find that I now have to wear ear plugs along with the DRE 6000 to keep from having a roaring in my ears when I get on the ground.
