Hi Fellow RPA members:
What is happening at Selma? A short posting would be appreciated.
Had planned for months to attend one of our best clinics, and great fellowship (southern hospitality).
However, sometimes the best plans don't always work out. Wish that I could share this time and flying with you guys.
Please give my best to all!

Ray,
Our wishes are with you! Hope all went well for you.
Selma went real well. No FAST cards given though. Did a lot of 2 ship
flying to spin up the newbies. I did not have time to take any pictures.
Maybe Talon or Wild Bill got some. We 19 birds on the ground. A number fell
out for different reasons. Four that were true no shows. No calls or
cards..not a. Sorry the ones that did let us know that they could not be
here could not make it. One was because of weather and then a mechanical
issue. One was a family emergency. And then there was Bulldog that came and
went in the same day! Something about an Airshow at Semor Johnson AFB!
Friday was pretty much a ground school day. The New RPA briefing slides and
the soon coming new manual will be a big step forward. Still have those
dueling hand pumps though. Was that just one or was he adjusting his visor
or did he want me to go trail? Please Blade, give us a wing flash for
moving 2 or 3 & 4 around...enough politicing.
Sat was highlighted with an invitation from one of our RPA members (Greg
Arnold, a catfish and shrimp farmer) to come to a shrimp boil at the
airport in Demoplis, Al. The airport there was haveing a flyin to celebrate
the shrimp harvest. So 4 flights obliged them and beat up the pattern along
with scarfing down a few pounds of their Jumbo Shrimp! Just one request
"Weasle Lead". Next time you decide to turn on your smoke, please let me
know in the Slot when it is coming!" Nothing like being saddled up in the
slot for the diamond low pass and suddenly have smoke puking from your
stacks right over your canopy! Figured all was well when you continue
throught the pass and not fly backwards over my head!"
Talon and his crew of taildraggers treated them to part of the airshow
routine they are working on. Did not get the formation challenge in this
year due to our arrival time back at SEM and the need to get a 4 ship check
ride done. Sunday saw some broken birds that need alittle work to get them
ready for the RTB home. Craig Payne had a P lead issue and could not shut
his A/C down without having to pull the fuel cutoff. Talon had a bad plug
wire causing the engine to misfire. Wild Bill and Robert Lanford came to
his rescue! Well, sorta...atleast he has his spitting beast over at
Dennis's shop to put the auto plug wire conversion kit in.
Linedogg, you gotta get that Rocket of yours saddled up and come take back
over this scheduling job! Everybody knows the schedulers put themselves in
the best sorties and fly when they want...right? NOT! Out of 4 days did get
8 sorties in though! 4 of them were actually formation sorties! The rest
were X/C's for A/C pickup or RTB to home airfield for one thing or another.
Well as the old sage said....A bad day with Air under your ASS is better
than the best day in the Office! Never have heard anyone say I just did a
perfect paper cut yet!
Later,
Fly safe and always Check 6!
