All,

Sheltair Aviation (FBO (at) S&F) has taken over operations at Ocala (OCF) in Florida and is my home airport. I asked the manager how receptive they would be to hosting a fly-in at OCF and he was very eager to accommodate us.
OCF has a very large ramp, 2 runways, is located near many restaurants and hotels, has lots of uninhabited areas to the west for practice areas and is in central Florida which is convenient to many of us, and finally it's warm. I mentioned Oct, Nov, or Dec timeframe. He said he would give us a great fuel discount, and currently OCF is $.12 cheaper than AYS. The manager also offered us the conference rooms, and the FBO has an onsite restaurant for breakfast and lunch. It's a very nice FBO, next to the FBO there is an electronics shop and a large maintenance shop which could hangar and repair our planes if required.
The field is towered but there is very little traffic, and the manager asked if we would be willing to do fly by's and such, since they've been wanting to have some sort of event there for the public. He said he would arrange cooperation with the tower for special "Events". He stated that he would like to create a long term relationship with us to do this on a regular basis. The manager knows us well, he's been fueling us at S&F for years.
I'd like to get a show of hands of who would be interested in coming down and what month/week would be best for you. Formation flying is definitely on the agenda and more than likely we'll have IP's and CP's on hand since they're all local, but this is mostly for FUN!!! I'd like to get at least 15 planes, so let me know.

Ernie,

I have seen only moderate interest in the Oktoberfest Clinic and i thought i have set up something special with closed airspace at an airport where we fly every spring in the Warbird show. Go figure.

I was thinking of coming based on date. Our two yaks will make the October Lakeland/Linder event. January time frame would be good if there was no early Waycross planned for this year.

Ernie, I replied that I am interested, but would need to know dates before I commit. You asked me for preferred dates, but would rather you pick a couple of dates (prime and alternate) then we can adjust fire. JB

Yep,

I have 2 respondents so far, Jon, and Bill. This makes for a nice dinner or a night at the movies, not necessarily a fly-in. Currently to my knowledge there is no AYS planned, and this could be the alternative to AYS, with better Hotels, Food, Fuel and Weather.
The dates would be sometime in November or December, possibly January or some other time, nothing is written in stone yet, I'm just trying to drum up interest. I know there are at least 20 of you who were planning on AYS.

Ernie, I responded like JB and I am interested in attending. There are several of us headed down to Lakeland in November supporting the Wounded Warriors Program.  I concur with  JB.  Pick  some dates and let everyone look at their personal schedules. Too late in November and your dealing with the Holiday season that runs till the first of January. There is still a lot of flying going on October and November in the Southeast and North Central because of the great weather this time of year. In January-February, not so much, so a Southern trip is always nice .My recommendation would be Mid to late January but its your deal so you pick a few dates and see who can make it.

Greg,

The Yak List seems to drop a lot of messages, I didn't see yours. Reply to me directly for this. October is a bust for me. I'll be at Craigs thing on Oct 1st. the rest of the month I'm slammed. Nov, I'll also be at When Pigs Fly South. Looks like January would be the month.
I'll throw out the weekend of the weekend of Jan the 15th or the 22nd or the 29th. 2016
Reply off line to me. With a subject line of "Winter Fly-in"
Thanks

Ernie, I replied that I am interested, but would need to know dates before I commit.  You asked me for preferred dates, but would rather you pick a couple of dates (prime and alternate) then we can adjust fire.  JB
