I have a Sigtronics SAS 440 intercom and an Icom radio. Lately, when I squelch the intercom, it locks out the mics on pilot and copilot. I sent intercom to the manufacturer and they tested it as fully functioning. On recent flight ATC could not hear me until I bypassed the intercom and plugged directly through the radio. What could cause that if not the intercom?

Check the wiring carefully. If you are using VO X i would switch to push to talk if you are in a noisy aircraft.

Thanks Frank. I have vox which has worked fine for 7 years until now. Any idea where in the wiring it could be?

Check shielding grounds and make all the jacks have good insulating washers and are not contacting structure. Remember shields are only grounded at the intercom end.
