|
|
That spinner bulkhead, the grey disc on the front of the black cylindrical housing, very often doesn't fit tightly/firmly/snugly enough into the actual spinner and there is a small gap of maybe 0.1 mm / a few thou between the grey plastic disc and the inside of the metal spinner.
After many hours of use, when you take the spinner off for some reason, you might find grey powder/dust inside the spinner and a witness mark inside the spinner where the grey plastic disc rubs against it.
So I usually wrap a few short lengths (3 inches each?) of electrical insulation tape across the edge of the plastic disc at equal intervals around the edge of the disc, before putting the spinner back on.
How does anyone know if there is a gap? If the spinner goes on too easily before inserting the screws which attach it to the rear bulkhead/ disc, then there is probably a small gap. So if there are firstly a few pieces of tape stuck around the edge of the front grey plastic disc, then a small push against the front of the spinner is needed before it is possible to insert the fastening screws in the rear bulkhead.
By the way, the pictures below are of someone else's propeller hub, so I can claim no credit for the wire locking!
