So someone at the local FSDO is reading the regs and being a stickler. They want routes to and from events as well as "areas" used for training. What are you all doing and what about XC flights?

				Absolujtely correct - GPS direct
In 8130.2J, which governs the operation of experimental aircraft, including exhibition category, Appendix C, paragraph C-2, b. says:
"b. Exhibition. The program letter SHOULD - (the word "should" does not mean "must")
 (1) Provide event names and dates for the events at which the aircraft will be exhibited. (ENTER THE EVENTS YOU PLAN TO ATTEND)
 (2) Propose route(s) of flight to and from the events. GPS DIRECT
(3)For proficiency and/or maintenance flights, include the estimated number of flight hours (ENTER HOW MANY HOURS PER YEAR YOU THINK YOU'LL FLY) and the intended area (SELF EXPLANATORY IE: STATES OF XX, XX, XX, XX) and airports in which the aircraft will be operated.(ANY PUBLIC OR PRIVATE AIRPORT WITHIN THE STATES INDICATED WITH A 2000 FT OR LONGER RUNWAY)

I do not understand this continuous rehash on program letters on where you can fly?
The below is what I have put on my letter for many years. I only detail any actual air shows
that I attend and or participate in as an unpaid performer. Never have I said what route I was
taking.  CJ6’s and all versions of Yak 52’s and many other experimental exhibition class aircraft
fall in the category and class referred to in the attached info have NO area restrictions!
You can fly anywhere at any time in the United States of America that any certified aircraft can.
