				Guys:  To fix a "Heavy Wing" on the newer serial numbers (after 41130 or 
 so) where the ailerons are riveted on instead of bolted on and one 
 aileron is lower with reference to the upper wing surface (check this 
 simply by laying a straight edge on top of the wing extending aft over 
 the aileron and see that the straight edge is parallel and touches the 
 top skin of the aileron), Vans recommends placing a "wedge" on the 
 bottom side of the low aileron.  A much simpler and better way to move 
 the aileron up to match the other side (or lower a higher aileron) is to 
 buy (4) steel 3/16" fender washers and rivet them to the outside of the 
 hinge arms ( (2) #3 rivets per washer) with the 3/16" hole in the 
 washers located where the 3/16" hinge bolt should be to move the aileron 
 up (or down) to make it match the other side.  Then drill through the 
 washer holes for the hinge bolts.  You will have oblong (or two) holes 
 in the hinge arms but the washers will act as new properly aligned hinge 
 pin mounts.
       After the ailerons are matched, you can mount the wings according 
 to "Setting Wing Incidence" instructions.  After building two 10's, here 
 are some tips that I learned.
       The drop in the angle (slope) of the wing should be 5 1/2" to 6" 
 from the front wing spar to the rear wing spar with a level straight 
 edge (as described in Vans instructions).  This angle should be the same 
 on each wing.  The greater the angle of incidence, the lower the nose 
 will be in flight and the harder it will be to flare on landing.  Having 
 built two RV10's, I would recommend 5 3/8"--5 7/8" more than 5 
 3/4"--6".  If you do not have hardly enough elevator control (the stick 
 is all the way back with maximum nose up trim) on landing, you can add 
 10# of lead on top of the empennage between the horizontal stabilizer ribs.
       With the wings attached to the main spar (before drilling the rear 
 wing spar), lay a long straight edge across the top of the wing from the 
 forward spar to the trailing edge of the flaps with the flaps in their 
 up position (you will have to attach the flap push rods to the flap 
 control bell crank).  There should be about 1/4" clearance under the 
 straight edge above the leading edge of the flap where it slides under 
 the top skin of the wing.
       The ailerons should match the flaps and wing tips.  If the flaps 
 or ailerons are too high, you will have extra drag on the wing which 
 will cost you cruise air speed.  Adding a "wedge" to an aileron also 
 adds drag.
       The flaps do not have to match the fuselage perfectly for good 
 flight characteristics.  Matching the flaps in their neutral position to 
 their ailerons is most important (more so than matching them to the wing 
 tips).

				Would you have pictures of lowering or raising the aileron with the help of washers..?
