I noticed too that when I start the engine after a while of not running that
it starts quicker if I run the fuel pump and choke it. I'm pretty sure it
has to do with empty fuel lines and the distance from the tank to the carbs.

When I'm in cruise and the electric fuel pump is on I noticed that the fuel
flow meter is higher than when the electric fuel pump is off. I don't know
what happens to the extra fuel... but I keep it off in case it is
conserving.
