I've switched to a fixed pitch 72" powerfin borrowed from a friend building a 701. Today's flight conducted at sealevel, wind 160 (at) 6, temp 6c dewpoint -2c barometer 30.00 produced the following results:
Take off max rpm 5500 climb (at) 60mph ias 1050 fpm
climb to 4000' 82 ias (at) 5500 rpm (reduced throttle)
73 ias (at) 5000 rpm
67 ias (at) 4800 rpm
58 ias (at) 4300 rpm
slow flight (at) 3900 w/ full flaps 42 ias good handling in 90 degree turns
reducing to 1/2 flaps and staying level rapidly accelerated toward 60 ias
At 5000' I have to reduce throttle to stay below 5800 rpm. 5500 rpm involves a lot of throttle movement.
I'm still too busy to cross check ias with GPS speeds, maybe next flight.
The glare from my smile is making the GPS difficult to read anyway.
