Hi All,
Flying my '52 out of Flabob on Thursday and the engine started running rough. Didn't seem to loose power. No backfiring, spitting or coughing. All temps and pressures looked normal. Landed it and did a couple of run ups. Mags checked out Ok as well as the prop. Any ideas as to the problem?

Is it misfiring on the ground when you run it up? Can an observer here it miss every so often when you run up. It does not run rough on either mag, correct without a >3% drop? If all else is ok, then look the plug wires, the Cigarette, and your plugs. How old are your plugs and do you have the capability to put them in a testor as well as sand blast them clean along with regapping them. if the plugs check out ok, then look to make sure all of your cigarettes are making contact and are without corrosion. If they are ok, look to the plug wires themselves, especially if you have the Russian plug wires. They can breakdown and arc in the metal wiring resistor casing so that they ground out causing it to misfire. Try loosening the caps on the cigarette and spraying some Silicon spray down them to moisten the inside of the wiring case. Hope this helps.

Or you can order the automotive plug wires and plug conversion kit. -) The kit will fix the plaguing problem of the Russian wiring harness forever. Contact me off list if you're interested.
