I have two issues with my 1970 500S that my mechanic and I are troubleshooting.

<![if !supportLists]>1. <![endif]>Issue number one is when I turn on the electric fuel pump the pressure spikes about 20 higher than the green zone and floods the engine and the engine quits.  This happens prior to take off before the throttle is advanced and also on downwind when the throttle is brought back in anticipation of landing. As soon as the pump is turned off, the engine returns to normal.  Any response will be greatly appreciated.
<![if !supportLists]>2. <![endif]>The second issue is a hydraulic leak associated with the accumulator.  After each flight there is fluid around the upper and lower fitting.  Is this unit something that can be overhauled or repaired?
<![if !supportLists]>3. <![endif]>As a follow up to the broken door hinge.  We received a replacement of the hinge ½ that had broken for a cost of $950.00.  We were unable to remove the broken hinge from the door without having to take the entire door apart so my mechanic was able to reweld the broken hinge.  Apparently it had been welded twice before and it is questionable if the new weld will hold.  We are keeping the new hinge just in case we need it in the future.  If the hinge ½ is $950.00 I would hate to think of what a new door would cost.  For that matter, to make a new plane would probably be in the neighborhood of a CJ.

Don,
You may have to settle for, not getting any bad info. So it may not be a particularly bad thing.
Re#1 and #2: Sounds to me there is a pressure regulator that is not regulating. See if John Towner might have a thought johntowner(at)centralairsouthwest.com (johntowner(at)centralairsouthwest.com) .
Re #3: Mine has been welded and I know Gary Tillman was looking for one a few years ago when his broke.  I found him a used one then but, as I recall the price was close to what you paid.
