All:
Yes, the Nuvite process works. Like anything else in the building game, it's a trade-off. Material costs, even if you get all the Nuvite recommended accessories is 20% of what it'll cost you to paint. Time-wise, it's about the same, but God is it boring!!
I'm forcing myself to go out and finish the c-section now- hopefully, I'll be able to post pictures of what I consider to be the final results by the end of the day.
Notes:
1. Zenith builders are dealing with non-clad material. There are three pages in the "Book" that deal with it- concentrate on them. E-mail me and I'll attach the "Book" if you don't have it.
2. You can't get F9 through ACS- go to the Nuvite website. For non-clad material, you need F9, C, and S grades. G6 is a waste of money for our purposes. Anyone want to buy a half-pound, cheap?
3. The only usable bonnets are the backed bonnets available from Nuvite or their equivalent. Haven't found the equivalent yet.
4. Clean the gunk out from around rivets between passes. This will take as much time as the actual polishing.
5. You WILL get dirty as a coal miner.
6. Have Ma rummage through the bargain bin for flannel every time she's in the Wal-Mart fabric department. I'm getting flannel remnants for an average of $.25 a yard.
7. Good, premade flannel bonnets are available from a Canadian company for a decent price. E-mail me and I'll attach the link.
Good building!

If you go to Goodwill or those type of thrift stores you can usually buy sorted rags like T-shirts, flannel, denim etc. by the pound.
