I am installing the wiring for the Gertz heated pitot tube on my RV-8A. I have questions concerning the utility of the LED display that came with the kit.

How useful is the display? Is it worth the wiring weight?

Seems to me that that in-flight the pitot tube heat will be turned on in wx, and will either work or not, and the lights have little value.

Anyone have any opinions? (Admittedly an oxymoron question for this group)

I installed an LED on the "ON" side of the switch in my 8 to remind me "its on".

Since it is automatic, it might be nice to know when it is coming on. Just an observation since I don’t have that unit.
