List,

I've got a Rotax 912 that I'd like to send off to a repair center to have
some service bulletins taken care of. It's an older model but never been
run. Looking for recommendations from anyone who has personal experience
dealing with one of the authorized service centers. Thanks,

I have never had a engine overhauled but I have talked to the technicians at
Lockwood about several problems. They seem very helpful and knowledgable on
the 912 engine.

Brent, I don't think you can do better than Lockwood, they know the engines
and are well equipped.

I believe we have on list experts that do that type of work. Lookwood is
great, but consider supporting those that give us valuable free
information and help. Consider keeping it in the family. IMHO

Two or four stroke if it has the Rotax name on it consider Bob Robertson
Light Engine Services. Don't be worried about his being north of the
border. He has done lots of engines for people all over the map.

Check back through a few engine threads and you will find his E-Mail and 800
number.

Alan,

Agree. If there are folks on this list that do this work, I'd like to
hear from them.

I Agree -- Bob has been great with parts and questions I have had. Being in Canada is not a problem.

Brent,

I would highly recommend Lockwood Aviation in Sebring Florida. While I haven't sent them my engine for work, yet, I have taken their 912 maintenance course. (which I recommend without reservation) I also have talked with their mechanics and watched as they worked on customers engines. They are a first class operation, they know the Rotax, and they know homebuilders, and will work with you.

I had an interesting experience yesterday looking an Ignition Coil Bracket
Assembly for the 912. I called one service center and was forwarded
elsewhere to see of another center had one, I was completing the address
part and there was an Oops as my zip code was not in their service area.
Then it was past Eastern Standard closing time so went on line. I was first
asked to type in my Zip code to see if they were authorized to help me.

It would seem that using a preferred service center might be a bit
problematic at times due to the franchise agreements between the service
centers and Rotax. Anyway I tried.

Similar to my experience in buying a Jabiru engine...I was told by
the Florida dealer that I'd have to buy my engine from the Tennessee
dealer, because I live in Michigan....regional restrictions as to
where they could sell.

I also sent them my 912 for updates and some additional work and I was very
pleased with the quality of there work and the price they charged me.
