All-
Well, here we are. 3 months late (Some might say 3 years late), but the fuse is hooked up to the c-section. Just finished the garanger and still have to be careful of positioning or I'll run out of room!
Anyone have an easy way to bend the upper longerons? I'm not crazy about building the rig Larry Mac used, but will if I have to.

Hi Bill ,there may be a better way ,however I used the method used by Larry Mac .It takes next to nothing to build the jig if you already have some big "C" clamps

That's the way I plan on doing mine. The whole object is to have some control over the process.

Bill,
Take another look at what it takes. Very little effort to get it right
here and you just use the template to check against.
Bend just a little at a time, and you can unbend as needed to get it.
Just take your time.

Rick-
Definitely the way to go, but I can't justify the expense for two bends.

Larry-
I'll probably come up with something similar depending on what I find
laying around the corners of the garage.

Check out Scott Laughlin's site. He simplified Larry's bender a little. Couldn't get easier.

I used this technique, but using a vice (vise?) for better control.

One problem is that the longeron tries to bend sideways as you bend it. My
solution was to clamp both longerons back to back to form a T section and
bend them both together, they tend to stay flat if you do that, as they are
each trying to bend in oppposite directions, so cancel out. It also has the
advantage that you get both longerons to exactly the same curve - and if you
are REALLY lucky, it might even be the CORRECT curve!!
