Just a quick question for the list, dose any one know were to purchase lower cowl pivot bushes for the CJ6?   

I would prefer to replace just the rubbers if they can be purchased.

I had a tough time getting the old ones out of my CJ...  mine are the  

later model "screw in" type, and I couldn't get them to turn at all  

no matter

what I tried.  Until one morning I awoke with the idea to put a bolt  

through the hole that the pin usually occupies and I put big fender  

washers and

star washers on each side of the bushing, (small enough to clear the  

"housing",big enough to grab metal on the outer part of the bushing )

threaded a nut on the end and tightened it very tight,  and used a  

socket wrench on the bolt head to

unscrew the entire bushing/bolt/washer/clamp assembly out with hardly  

any effort at all!



Most likely everybody knows that trick, but I felt like a genius for  

about 1 minute!

Sadly, that was months ago and many minutes have since passed...and  

now I feel more like myself again.

Doug Sapp is likely.  If they are the same as a Yak-52 (I don’t know if they are) there is Carl Hayes or George Coy.  I replaced my Yak-52 bushings recently.  I have two extras I can offer if helpful.
