Motor mount sag ? ? I was told that there would be sag and to leave more of an openning at the bottom. So I set it with about 5/16 at the top (fingertip) and 3/8 at the top (thumbnail) at the bottom. IO540 with 4 bladed M/T ptop. After six years & hundreds of flights I'm still awaiting the morning that they even out during preflight. The 3/8" at the bottom leaves just enough for replacing the lower cowl without forcing the issue. I have the shim washers required ready as soon as it sags.....BUT I may have to get new shim washers, these are begining to rust...8*) KABONG

Van may not have always sold the same engine mounts, so the mount
manufacturer and part number are also relevant info.

My two bits is to run the engine for a couple of times before mounting the
cowl to the fuselage. This is what I did 5 years and 620 hours ago. This
provides enough shake-down to settle in it's permanent spot.
Never had any engine sag...
