The FAA will tell you that you are required to determine the weight
and balance of the airplane prior to any flight. In practice,
though, you've already done that by calculating the worst case
forward and aft loading when the plane was built. I guess it all
depends upon what the inspector thinks during your ramp check or what
the insurance adjuster thinks when he's deciding if you get a check
after an accident.
