We have recently finished our 601SL and put on pants, at the recommendation of a friend who has built 4/5 planes, the latest an Esqual. He flew his first without pants and checked speeds in various configurations. He then added pants, and gained 10 knots in both climb and cruise. We have not flown ours without them, so can’t give you a direct comparison with the 601. We had a problem checking air pressure and adding air, so we Dremel’d out a curve on the valve side of each wheel. Works fine, and looks ok, too. N156WT
