Departed KLGU this morning at about 0715, side stepped to the right to check the progress on the installation of the ILS/Malsar, leveling off at 200'.
After throttling back to cruise 5200 rpm I headed west to intersect the Bear River. I have followed this water course down stream many times to practice coordinated flight. In the center of the valley its course best described as meandering. This morning I turned upstream. I have never flown the river in that direction before and it surprised me that it was so unfamiliar looking at it from a new perspective. Good coordinated turns though.
Fifteen miles upstream a slow climb took me over a little ridge to overfly Newton Resevoir and pick up the Logan River for a while. Dodged some gulls but really not much else flying.
AWAS called for 230 at 05 so crossed midfield to 17 downwind, calling base, final and landing long from mid field. With throttle at idle and speed stabilized a little forward slip kept the runway centered in the windshield. When the desired touch down point disappeared under the nose I pulled full flaps a settled the remaining distance to the runway-maybe 100' run out.
Powered up to get off the runway and taxied back to the hangar. With everything buttoned buttoned up I was at my desk before 0800.
All may not be well with the world but this part of it was okay this morning.

Cool! my normal morning flight went well, followed a small creek for my coordinated turns this morning, kept the left wheel right on that creek, a few 90 degree banks and all went well. I did hit a bird, or I should say a bird hit me, put a few feathers inside and some blood on the right top windscreen and door. I landed with 4 mph tail wind and taxied to park. Got out and looked for any damage, little bits of feathers on the prop, and then I looked at the right side of the plane and found the bird drapped over the aileron, tonight I'll take a picture. No damage. Back to work by 8:30.

John,
Thanks for the report. I try to visualize your area. I have only driven up
I-15 a couple of times, but it always seemed a good place to explore by air.
