Hi All,
I'm looking for recomendations for covering the top of the glare shield on
my RV-7A slider. I'm looking for something that will keep reflections on
the windscreen to a minimum. I've heard of using textured black vinyl, but
I'm leaning more towards flat black paint to keep weight down. Probably a
PPG product since it matches the primer I have and it's what I used on my
interior. Any recommendations on what worked (or didn't work) for you would
be much appreciated.

I used suede as recommended by Lima-Lima. I like it and would do it again.
No reflections, durable and nice looking.

Greg,
The flat black paint on the glare shield of my 6A slider creates no
reflections on the windscreen. I purchased and tested a textured black vinyl
but it still has a bit of a reflective finish. Another considerations is
aging of the vinyl vs the paint. Have not flown at night yet so can't
comment on that but testing in my dark hangar with the map lights etc
indicated no problems. I think I made the right decision to not use the
vinyl.

Thanks for all the responses. I think I'll move forward with the flat black
paint. This sounds effective, simple and will keep weight down. I also
like the suede idea though. I suppose I could always experiment with that
later when the plane is flying.
Thanks again!
