Hi all,
I received an e-mail from Lowell Fitt tonight and he asked that I
pass along the latest news.
Lowell was released from the hospital this morning. Both he and Kay
are doing well and the doctors do not expect any permanent impact on
their health. Due to his back injury, he's limited to 30 minutes at
a time in a chair so responses to any posts will come slowly if at
all.
Lowell has two compression fractures in the last thoracic and first
lumbar vertebrae, a fairly badly sprained ankle and a cut thumb.
He'll have to wear a back brace for three months, a couple of weeks
of which have already passed. The brace provides considerable
mobility while limiting his ability to further damage his spine.
Kay has a fracture in her cervical area and is wearing a collar. She
also has a puncture wound in her leg that left metal fragments
against the bone and a broken thumb.
As has been reported by others, Lowell said that it was a
precautionary landing initiated because of a drop to zero oil
pressure. By all accounts, it was a successful one. He and Kay
exited the airplane on their own, there was no fire, and emergency
personnel were on scene in minutes.

Do we have a more complete description of this emergency off-field landing, and the execution of it, because of 'low oil pressure'? what was it that prevented a return to base?
